On the weekend of September 25/26 the Houston section joined our friends from the Lone Star section for a tour of the Painted Churches.
The Houston section caravaned from Houston and met the Lone Star section in downtown Schulenburg at the Chamber of Commerce.
The locals in Schulenburg had no idea what was going on with the caravan of 17 Mercedes-Benz cars parading down Main Street. The oldest was a 1957 190SL. The newest MB was a 2021 GLE53. In between were a dozen other SLs all with their tops down and a couple of AMG GTs. It was indeed impressive.
The tour guide led us to 6 different churches in and around Schulenburg
The tour was followed by a buffee style lunch at Sengelman Hall and a tour of the Shiner Bock brewery.
After checking into our hotel we met for dinner at Kloesel's Steakhouse for dinner in a private dinning room
On Sunday morning a few met for breakfast before heading back to Austin and Houston.
A great time was had by all
